As others have noted about how the simian society had its various castes, this breakdown also happened in real life. During meals on site, the actors couldn't take off the their prosthetics, so had to eat with the on. After just a day, the actors started to self-segregate into those castes no matter who the actor was underneath. Just shows how humans have innate preference for being with those like themselves. Its just how we are wired.

This movie is actually the adaption of a teleplay (TV show) but yes, it does feel more like a play than a movie. Still, its so intense and intriguing without CGI, gadgets and everything we see in today's movies. And I don't know why you thought the old man had a southern accent. Not even close. Great reaction. There is another AI out of control movie from the same era called 'Demon Seed'. The story line predicted the current dilemma with present AI.

When you watch these now old movies like this one, "12 Angry Men", etc, it sad to see the same issues that they dealt with plague us today. To quote - "The more things change, the more the stay the same."

The Babylon 5 station is 5 miles long, so that should give you a good sense of scale for how big the Cortez is. It's a couple of miles long at least, and I expect it has to be able to sustain its crew for years at a time.

Hi Ray, great to see you react to this film & I`m glad you enjoyed it. I`ve been recommending it to several reactors, in the hopes that someone would react to it. You are the 1st amongst those I watch to have done so. I`m not sure, if I have recommended this BBC Tv Series to you before but you might like to checkout 1975-77 (Survivors). Having watched it when it aired, I was particularly worried when our recent health scare began. I tried to give you a link to the Intro but YT what not let me. (Google Survivors Intro to find it.)

I feel like Michael O'Hare doesn't get nearly enough credit for possibly saving Babylon 5. He was unwell, he was struggling, and as a major character his loss could have killed the show dead after one season. But he agreed to step down gracefully without any fuss, he continued to attend cons and engage with the fans, he continued to advocate for the show even though eh was no longer on it, and he stayed on good terms with the people still working on the show. Even though he wasn't part of the show as a main character any more, he remained a big asset. He might be the most important figure in B5's history, because had he been anything less than a consummate professional about the situation then this show might have just gone off the air and been entirely forgotten.
